IE 10 not working

Hello people,
First of all I want to say it's a great plugin. Works like a charm, iPad support and looks great.
However, it's not working on my site in IE 10. The gallery gets rendered but I can't change the image. Has anybody encountered the same problem?
I'm using the HTML 5 doctype, can that cause any trouble?
Hope to hear from you.

Running Windows 7 Professional 64bit OS. Updated IE9 to IE10 for windows 7.
Galleria stopped working in IE10: with the Folio Gallery one thumbnail image is displayed but all other thumbnails behave as though IE were trying to load them but failing to do so. I am runing jQuery 1.7.1. Galleria works just fine in IE9 and Firefox, Google chrome, Safari and Opera at their latest and previous versions (I keep them up to date). I tried jQuery 1.8 and 1.9 versions but Galleria does not work in these on IE10 - in fact Galleria does not work in Firefox with these versions.

I managed to get the classic gallery working with

    Firefox: 20.0.1
    IE: 10.0.9200.16540

You might want to double check with this configuration. There might be something wrong with the CSS or Galleria.LoadTheme() ?

In the headers (some unnecessary Drupal configuration stuff here, like the "mlp203" and "v=1.8.3"):

    <style type="text/css" media="all">@import url("http://localhost:[port]/themes/mybartik/js/galleria/themes/classic/galleria.classic.css?mlp2o3");</style>

    <script type="text/javascript" src="http://localhost:[port]/themes/mybartik/js/jquery-1.8.3.min.js?v=1.8.3"></script>

And on the page where the gallery is loaded:

    <script type="text/javascript" src="../../themes/mybartik/js/galleria/galleria-1.2.9.min.js">

    [list of images]
    <div id="gallery">
    <img src="[path to image]"

    (function($) {
        width: 900,
        height: 600,
        transition: 'fade',
        showInfo: false,
        autoplay: 7000

Viewing on WIN8 with IE 10 Galleria stopped working. The website runs with jQuery 1.7.2 and galleria 1.2.9 with the classic theme used - it's not a drupal installation btw. For compatibility reasons we can't upgrade jQuery to a newer version. The gallery gets rendered just fine, but clicking on the left/right arrows or on the thumbs does not do anything. On all other browsers galleria just works fine...
I'm also using the HTML 5 doctype - what is going on...

just at a guess i think its safe to say that the galleria folks wont be fixing this, nor do they have any plans to fix it.

your best bet is probably going to be to use a jQuery.noConflict() solution to a newer version of jquery, and modify the galleria js files to use the noConflict'ed version.

not ideal, i know, but... itll get you up and running.

I guess the problem is that you cannot upgrade to JQuery 1.8.3. So . . . makes me wonder what it is about Internet Explorer 10 that causes old JQuery to break in this case.

I would think that Galleria would want to look into this and supply a workaround for people who need it (people who can't upgrade JQuery to 1.8.3). Then complain loudly to Microsoft.

What IS it that is causing things to break, by the way?

By the way, I cloned the site to a test environment, and upgraded to the latest jQuery (1.9.1) and still the gallery wont work in IE 10 (v 10.0.9200.16540) as i wrote before - the gallery renders, but if you click on the arrows or thumbnails, nothing happens.
So obviously it's not just the jQuery version - and i hope the galleria guys will take a look at this issue.

I implemented by myself some buttons (enterfullscreen, play, pause),
after executing enterFullscreen() thumbnails work fine, but not before
bug happens with all kind of jquery and galleria versions but only on IE 10

Hmm . . . I can't show mine to you since it is a localhost test site. But I am wondering if the problem might be somewhere in layers. I have Galleria running on a page inline (no popup layer) and it seems to be working okay THAT way. I don't have time to work with it right now to test getting it in a layer, but it might be something for Galleria programmers to look into?

Do those of you who can't get it to work have it running in a layer?

I trust that you are having problems. I am just curious why you are having them and I am not, and my INLINE configuration is all that I can think.

Hi Galleria team, maybe this could help

I tried a little debugging and found out, that the this._show() method gets only executed once in IE10 (line 4474 in the uncompressed source) - it looks like the _queue.stalled gets never cleared due to the function, which is returned by the complete function defined in line 4495, never gets executed. Looks like the first image stays stuck in the queue somehow...

When the folio galleria gallery opens in IE10 only the first thumbnail is displayed, all other thumbnails display with place holders and 'loading' icon but they never do load.
Is this behavoiur explainable by the the show() method ?

I understand johann tomazic's issue. Sometimes if you upgrade the JQuery on a site, you end up BREAKING OTHER THINGS.

One has to be careful with Drupal 7 not to upgrade JQuery where it might possibly interfere with other JQ applications that require earlier JQ. There are a couple possible solutions. Load JQ 1.8.3 conditionally on a page that has ONLY the Galleria app active. In other words, a site-wide update/ load of JQ 1.8.3 is not a good solution. Load JQ 1.8.3 in noConflict mode (which would require different namespacing and modification of the Galleria functionality to prefix the non-$ namepace. I am looking into that. It would be the only "error-proof" solution. And again, you would load that only on pages where you were using Galleria.

I am still baffled about WHAT it is in Internet Explorer that is causing the issue, and why Microsoft decided that it didn't need to make IE 10 backward compatible for JavaScript/JQuery.

I am running windows 8 where I am facing some issues with IE10.
    IE10 is not working properly.
It will work fine when we run it as administrator.

please let me know is there any possibilities to run as IE as admin by default.

I tried by running it as checking the box from IE properties.

However it is not launching as Admin.

I have been having this problem as well, though I'm not using Drupal. Just like Johann Tomazic discovered, I found that _show() is only getting called once.

It seems that the problem has something to do with transitions not firing. If I specify transition: 'none' in Galleria options, it works in IE10. A reasonable workaround seems to be to browser sniff for IE and set the transition as 'none' for IE and 'fade' or whatever your preferred transition is otherwise.

Try clicking the "Compatibility View" icon in IE10. You will find this in the address bar between the search and refresh icons. I found this fixed all Drupal problems in IE10.

A simple work-around for this problem is to set the "transition" option to be "none". Then IE10 will work without changing the jQuery version.

I'm using Galleria 1.2.8 with Drupal 7 (jQuery 1.4.4). I get slideshow working on Explorer 10 adding a check for MSIE 10 at line 332 of galleria.js, changing from:

     `if ( window.opera ) {`

     `if ( window.opera || ($.browser.msie && parseInt($.browser.version, 10) > 9) ) {`

this hack force Galleria to use jQuery animate function instead of css3 transitions.
Sure there is a more elegant way to code this but seems to work!

Has anyone gotten this issue resolved yet? I am having problems with IE in general. 10, 9, 8 - It's all doing the same thing. Using the Folio theme I can get the gallery to render. The full screen photo shows up with the controls but then the full screen controls do not work (arrow left, right and close). It works perfectly fine on FF & Chrome. I am pulling in the gallery using a CMS and the results are the same whether I use XML or serialization. Got the gallery and the full screen but no controls :( I tried stripping the page down completely so there was no other JS being called in case of conflict and still the same results. Changing the transition did not work, nor did compatibility mode. I've used jQuery 1.9.1, - jQ1.8.3, - jQ 1.7.1, & - jQ1.2.9 with all the same results as well.

A quick follow up my last post. The gallery actually really is working on all browsers. The problem now is in IE (7,8,9,10) when using the mouse to click through, I have to be on the bottom quarter of the full screen. (Using Folio theme) for it to actually scroll through the photos. The top third isn't registering anything at all and that is making the controls (left/right arrows and close button) appear useless.

So far it seems in my case that there may be a style issue. Using the developer tools in IE, I'm noticing the div class galleria-thumbnails-list gets an extra 2 styles thrown on it of overflow:hidden and position:relative. When I take off the position style I can utilize the controls in IE and scroll through the images as normal but if I close the image overlay the overflow:hidden has hidden the image thumbnails on the page. If I delete both of those styles (overflow & position), it seems to work in IE just fine. Things to consider are I am using this on a desktop and haven't tried on a touchscreen so I don't know if this results in anything else breaking elsewhere. I'm hoping that the Galleria folks or actually anyone can point me in the correct direction with this. I believe these styles are tacked on through the js file but I'm not a js guru. Just hoping to get an answer or a spark to help fix this problem because I love this gallery and really would like to use it. I've attached screenshots so hopefully what I'm talking about can be seen. The first just delineates the box with the styles that appear to be blocking the scrolling functionality, the second is the div code within the galleria container that has the styles. If anyone can please help to get this working I'd appreciate it.
Ok so my update is now that I found where the styles are added in the galleria-1.2.9.min.js file. I commented out the CSS for this.$("thumbnails, thumbnails-list").css({overflow:"hidden",position:"relative"}); and it worked perfectly in all versions of IE…. but it broke in Firefox… :-(

Thank you for the response. I am not having these problems when navigating
on your website, no. It works on my IE browsers. I suspect that there is a
conflict from the CMS we utilize. This was happening in IE versions 7 -
    10. FF, Chrome and Safari all worked no problem. I found the area in your
js where the indicated styles where added in and commented them out. It
seems to have done the trick as all versions of IE are now behaving
correctly and it did not alter any functionality with the other browsers
    as well.

    I have Windows 7 Premium Home Edition x 64

Since its updates and IE10 I've had nothing but issues. IE has an issue opening and once I do get it opened it has a problem running scripts and I get error messages constantly (there are so many script error codes I can't keep track.) There are even pages where I cannot type a letter (yes, just a letter) w/o the script coming up. I've gone to Microsoft and they have nothing on the topic that works.

Where do I go for help?

I posted some details of my testing of the problem here for anyone that is interested.

I think the problem is that Galleria 1.3.2 uses the jquery .on method that was added in jquery 1.7.

So if you use jquery1.7+ everything seems to work correctly.

For some reason it still seems to work with jquery 1.4.4 which is what Drupal 7 comes shipped with if you set the transition:none in the options.

    Hope that helps.
I wish it would work with jquery 1.4.4 because so many Drupal users use this. You can see the downloads and usages on these pages:
--plus all the people that use galleria with a Drupal module
